Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)
If pain, stiffness, or limited movement is getting in the way of your day, hands-on osteopathic care may help. OMT works with your body's structure (muscles, joints, and connective tissue) to restore motion and ease discomfort.
What is OMT?
Hands-on treatment for the pain you've been working around.
Your physician uses gentle stretching, pressure, and joint movement to find where your body is restricted and why.
-

Body & Back Pain
Back, neck, and body pain that hasn't responded to rest or previous treatment. We look at how you move, not just where it hurts.
-

Pinched Nerve
Burning, tingling, or numbness that travels down an arm or leg. Gentle techniques work to ease pressure on the irritated nerve.
-

Headaches & Migraines
Frequent headaches that start in the neck, jaw, or shoulders. Releasing tension in those areas may reduce how often they show up.
-

Post Surgical Pain
Stiffness, scar tension, and restricted movement after an operation. Once you're cleared for care, gentle techniques help you regain motion comfortably.
-

Pregnancy & Post-Partum
Low back, hip, and pelvic discomfort as your body changes. OMT is gentle, medication-free, and adapted to each stage of pregnancy and recovery.
-

Sports Injuries
Strains, sprains, and nagging aches that keep you off the court or out of training. Care focused on getting movement back safely.
-

TMJ Disfunction
Jaw pain, clicking, or difficulty chewing. Because the jaw connects to the neck and skull, we treat the whole area, not just the joint.
-

Chronic Sinusitis
Recurring congestion, facial pressure, and sinus headaches. Specific hands-on techniques encourage drainage and may complement your current treatment.
-

Frozen Shoulder
A shoulder that has gradually lost range of motion and hurts to lift. Treatment focuses on restoring movement without forcing it.
-

Chronic Joint Pain
Arthritis and long-term joint stiffness that limits what you can do. Hands-on care supports joint mobility and everyday comfort.
-

Carpal Tunnel
Numbness, tingling, or weakness in the hand and wrist. We assess the whole pathway — wrist, elbow, shoulder, and neck.
-

Overuse Injuries
Repetitive strain from work, training, or daily habits. Treatment addresses the mechanics causing the strain, not only the sore spot.
Frequently Asked Questions
What people ask before their first visit.
OMT is unfamiliar to most people, and that's fair — it isn't chiropractic, and it isn't physical therapy. Here's what patients usually want to know before booking. If your question isn't here, call us.
-
No. Chiropractic care focuses mainly on spinal alignment and often uses quick, forceful adjustments. OMT uses a broader and generally gentler set of techniques — stretching, soft tissue work, myofascial release, and joint mobilization — and considers the whole body. It's performed by a DO: a fully licensed physician who completed medical school and can also diagnose, order testing, and prescribe.
-
Most patients find it relaxing. During certain stretches you may feel brief discomfort or a dull ache as tight muscles release. Afterward, mild soreness — similar to a deep tissue massage or a hard workout — is normal and usually fades within a day or two.
-
It depends on your symptoms, your health history, and how your body responds. Some patients feel a difference after one session; others do better with a short series of visits. Your physician will evaluate you and talk through a plan before any treatment begins.
-
Yes. OMT is non-invasive and is generally considered safe for patients of all ages — including older adults, infants, and people who are pregnant — when performed by a DO. Your physician reviews your symptoms, medical history, and any underlying conditions first to determine the right approach.
-
Often, yes. OMT is frequently one part of a larger plan that may include exercise, rehabilitation, lifestyle changes, medication, or injections. Because your physician also provides your medical care, everything can be coordinated in one place instead of across separate offices.

Our team can verify your benefits and explain any out-of-pocket cost, like a copay, before your treatment — so there are no surprises. Just ask when you schedule.
