Intimate Wellness
Leaks when you cough or laugh. Sudden urgency. Waking up more than once a night. These are common after childbirth, surgery, and menopause, but they are not something you have to live with. Treatment starts with finding out why.
EMSELLA®
Retrain the muscles behind bladder control.
EMSELLA® is a chair. You sit on it fully clothed for about 30 minutes while it does the work your pelvic floor cannot do on its own. Focused electromagnetic energy triggers thousands of deep muscle contractions in a single session, far more than you could manage with Kegels. A typical course is six sessions. Nothing is inserted. Nothing is injected.
Common Treatments
Urinary incontinence · Bladder urgency · Nighttime urination · Pelvic floor weakness · Postpartum recovery · Leakage after prostate surgery

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions worth asking before you book.
Most people reading this page have already tried Kegels, pads, or simply waiting it out. If your question is not answered below, call the office and ask. It is a normal thing to ask about.
-
EMSELLA® is a chair that uses focused electromagnetic energy to contract the pelvic floor muscles thousands of times in one session. It is FDA-cleared to treat urinary incontinence in men and women. You stay fully clothed and seated the entire time. No surgery, no anesthesia, no medication.
-
You sit down fully clothed and stay seated for about 30 minutes. Most people describe a rhythmic tingling and a deep pulling sensation as the muscles contract. It should not hurt. Plenty of patients read or scroll their phone the whole way through.
-
A typical course is six sessions, scheduled twice a week over three weeks. Your physician will confirm the right number for you after your evaluation. Some patients come back for occasional maintenance sessions later, depending on how their symptoms respond.
-
In the United States, EMSELLA® is FDA-cleared for urinary incontinence. A weak pelvic floor can also affect core stability, posture, and comfort during intimacy. Whether treatment is likely to help with those things depends on what is causing them, which is something to talk through at your evaluation.
-
Most people are candidates, but not everyone. EMSELLA® is not used during pregnancy, or for patients with metal or electronic implants such as a pacemaker, a defibrillator, a drug pump, or a copper IUD. Your physician will review your history and current medications before treatment to confirm it is appropriate for you.
-
Because leaking is usually a symptom of something else. Childbirth, menopause, prostate surgery, hormone changes, medications, and weight changes can all play a part. Here you can have all of that evaluated in one place by a physician who already knows your history, instead of starting over somewhere new.
-
Yes. EMSELLA® is FDA-cleared for urinary incontinence in both men and women. Men most often seek treatment for leakage after prostate surgery or for symptoms tied to an aging pelvic floor. The treatment is the same. You stay fully clothed and seated.
