EXION® Fractional RF Microneedling

Microneedling paired with radiofrequency energy, delivered below the surface where acne scars and loose skin actually live. One appointment, about a day of redness, results that build over months.

Scarring and texture do not respond to surface treatments.

Acne scars, deep texture, and loose skin sit in the dermis, well below where a peel or a facial can reach. RF microneedling works at that depth. Very fine needles create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, and radiofrequency energy is released through those needles into the surrounding tissue. The needles trigger the healing response. The heat adds a second stimulus that encourages collagen and elastin to reorganize. Because the energy is delivered from inside the skin rather than across the top of it, the surface stays largely intact, which is what keeps recovery short relative to how deep the treatment goes.

Numbing cream goes on first and sits for roughly thirty minutes. The treatment itself takes about that long again depending on the area. Most patients describe pressure and heat rather than sharpness. Afterward the skin looks and feels sunburned for about a day, sometimes with mild swelling, and a grid pattern may be faintly visible for a few hours. Plan for a quiet evening rather than a week off. Sun protection is not optional afterward, and your provider will tell you when to resume active skincare ingredients.

Needle depth and energy are adjusted to the area being treated and to your skin, which is why this is a physician-directed treatment rather than a fixed protocol. Skin tone matters here. Deeper skin tones are treated with insulated needles, and settings are handled more conservatively to reduce the risk of pigment change. That evaluation happens before your first session, not during it.

Exion radiofrequency (RF) microneedling is generally safe and effective for all skin types and Fitzpatrick skin tones (types I to VI), when performed with customized settings.
